The Jews then responded to him, “What sign can you show us to prove your authority to do all this?” Jesus answered them, “Destroy this temple, and I will raise it again in three days.” They replied, “It has taken forty-six years to build this temple, and you are going to raise it in three days?” But the temple he had spoken of was his body. After he was raised from the dead, his disciples recalled what he had said. Then they believed the scripture and the words that Jesus had spoken. (Jn 2:18-22; NIV)
"Destroy this temple, and I will raise it again in three days." These are powerful words that Jesus gave to the Jews, but all they could do was scoff at them. It had taken them almost fifty years to complete this temple, there was no way Jesus would be able to rebuild it in only three days, so they thought. But they truly did not understand the power of God. Anyone can restore a building, but only God can rebuild a life! The human body is the true temple of God. It is where worship takes place; one on one with God. Some temples require repair, and all they need to do is ask the Master Builder to come in and renovate. That's precisely what he does and without charge. Some temples are old and have been used for worship in times past but have not been used in many years. All they need is a fresh coat of paint, and God knows what color is best. There is nothing that has been done to any temple that God can not repair and make right again. All we have to do is ask him to come in and fix it up and then start using it for what it was designed for; worship.
Take some time this week to examine your temple and see if there might be an area that needs some repair or a new coat of paint. Then get a bid from the Master Carpenter, he does it for love!
