Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice. Let your gentleness be known to everyone. The Lord is near. Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Php 4:4–7; NIV)
As I write this it is Friday, what a great passage to end the week with! The weekend is supposed to be a time of relaxation but if you are like me it's a time to get a lot of things done that were put off during the week. Many do their shopping on the weekends, others do yard work or housework, some do more work on the weekends than they do during the rest of the week. Whatever you do this weekend take time to rejoice in the Lord. I'll say it again: Rejoice! Be glad for what the Lord has given you! Let him know how thankful you are because you can do yard work, or that you have a yard to do work in. There is always something to be thankful for, so do it, give him thanks.
Don't be anxious or worry about going back to the job on Monday. Take this weekend and use it for prayer, giving everything over to God and again thanking him for all you have. Do you see how this "giving thanks to God" keeps coming up? We have so much to be thankful for, so do it. If you send this weekend giving thanks to God, on Monday when you walk back into the regular routine everyone will wonder what you did during your time off. They will be able to see "the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, that guards your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." When they ask you why you're so happy, tell them about the wonderful weekend you had working and talking with your friend, Jesus Christ.
